Remembering an Icon

Last Sunday marked the 50th anniversary of icon, Marilyn Monroe’s tragic and unfortunate death. She was a star, an icon, a model, a singer, an actress and a woman of beauty and talent when she was alive. Now, she is still all of those things and more, as she is remembered and her legacy continues.

Her real name was Norma Jeane Mortenson, and she portrayed confidence and spark that came through her music, modelling and acting. Marilyn didn’t fit the ‘mold’ of hollywood back then, but created herself in her own way. She defined herself as magnificent, intriguing and took risks such as posing nude and wearing sexy clothing.

Today she is known for her appearances in Clash by Night, We’re not Married, Niagra and Monkey Business and Madonna’s inspired Material Girl video and many other films. She put herself on the map by posing nude for playboy before it was popular, and dressing provocatively and sexy, just as she felt.

She was a woman who pushed boundaries and stayed true to herself. Her true beauty of sexy curves, and the confidence she carried, still follows her legend into 2012, fifty years later. She was a sex icon that is remembered for portraying the real female body as voluptuous and attractive.

Whether you remember her for her acting, beauty, singing or her outrageous wardrobe in her time, she is forever a legend of beauty.  She was the sex symbol of her time, and she still is today. Her life of fame, glamour and sparkle will never die, and will always live on.
