Flashback Friday – Valerio Moda

With the September show a little over a month away, model casting has already begun and the excitement of the show is becoming real.

For this week’s flashback friday, I thought it would be a good time to flashback on an old designer from a previous Vancouver Fashion Week show, and see how they have grown and evolved since then.

Ali Mokhtarian, is the talented designer behind Hirad by Ali and the Valerio Collection. He showcased his designs at VFW 2010 F/W, and it was apparent that he has a true eye and passion for well-made apparel.

t is obvious from viewing his collection that he values the richness of tradition while still looking towards the ever changing future. His designs all use lush fabrics, textures, vibrant hues of eggplant, rich chocolate and mustard, entwined with details such as hats, fur collars and bright red lips.

It wasn’t until 2007 that Mokhtarian came to Vancouer, thankfully bringing his spectacular designs with him. It was also in this year that he created a partnership to launch the Valerio collectoin, that he showed at Vancouver Fashion Week. Mokhtarian wants to deliver high end leather fashion to the world, and he has done just that.

If you want to check out his collections in person, head over to his website, Valerio Collezioni.
