VFW Designer Profile: Lasalle College International Design Students
LEIGH ROSE
Autumn Egeskov is the designer behind the label Leigh Rose. She is one of the students from LaSalle College International whose designs will make a first appearance on the runway of Vancouver Fashion Week F/W 2012
As a young girl, Autumn loved playing dress up and creating costumes for her friends and for herself. It was just a matter of time before realizing that all she wanted to do is fashion design. When she’s in her creative process she likes to break down the inspiration theme so she can analyze it from every angle possible ,and get the most out of it.
This season, she’s inspired by art deco. She’s giving it an innovative approach, using triangular laser cutting to showcase the architetural inspiration. ”I’m proud of all my pieces. I hand dyed all my fabrics and assisted in the laser cutting process. So, I have put a lot of my time and effort into this collection. None of it is over the top and I think it shows off the elegante of the era perfectly,” says the aspiring designer of her collection.
JUN YOUNG KIM
Jun Young Kim is a young designer from Seoul, Korea who always knew he wanted to be a fashion designer. He combines different concepts and creating something unique each time. “When creating something I ask myself, Is this unique? Have I seen it before? Does it catch people’s attention?” says the young designer.
The main inspiration behind his 8 piece collection is the dichotomy of Good and Evil in the human mind. He chose to work with black, red and white because they’re the best colours to express what his collection stands for.
There are five designers showcasing their collection for the first time tonight at Vancouver Fashion Week. Along side Leigh Rose and Jun Young Kim, are Eunmi Kim, Melis Nur by Nur Kurban and Synikal by Byron Abad. They will be showing their designs in one segment starting at 6 P.M and ending at 7:15 P.M.
